Ecuador Day 32

Today was another low-key day. We went back to the El Bosque Mall to get some passport photos taken for Mishell. She has her doctor's appointment tomorrow and for some totally logical reason, we need to bring 6 passport photos with us to that appointment. So, off we went. We had lunch while there and then decided to go to the Metropolitano Park on the east side of town, close to where we stayed last time. It is like a whole new place up there. It's foresty and quiet and there were very few souls in sight. We took a little trail through the woods and had a good little walk. After that we walked across the way and found a few play areas that were really fun. It was the perfect day, a little overcast, but warm. I was laying on a bench just enjoying life when all the sudden it started to POUR. No warning, no drizzling first, just straight up downpour. It was crazy. So that makes two days in a row that we were caught in the pouring rain. The park is removed from the beaten path, so we started walking down the hill to try to find a taxi. Some man took pity on us and drove us to the bottom where we found a taxi. Always an adventure. :)

Another one of those giant things that Jace wanted a picture with...

So...the people around here just must not be soda drinkers like us in the US. Anytime you eat out and order a drink, this is the largest size (12 ounces). That's like one swig for me, ya know. People have been asking if Ecuadorians are skinny-- but they really aren't as a whole. They eat A LOT of rice and chicken, but their meal times are odd...like lunch at 2 pm and dinner at 9:30 pm. Plus they eat a lot of ice cream. So ya know...
And another picture on the way out

Parque Metropolitano. We saw some police men riding horses when we first came in and I thought they'd be smart to let people rent horses up there. It'd be perfect.

There was this old building on the property. Jace said "If they have the sacrament, it's a church." Haha, pretty sure it's not a church...maybe an old stable?

The parking lot. Just to give you an idea of the crowds today.

And just because...here's a video of Mishell who has picked up a phrase that we must use often...Haha. And because we have played Uno 19,377 times, she has learned colors, "skip", "reverse", and "your turn" quite well.

Tomorrow- doctor! Making progress!
