Ecuador Day 30

Whew, the big 30. We have made it 30 days here! And we are still alive, and not crazy. Okay, maybe the last part is not true.

Yesterday, we did our normal morning thing and then mad our way to the Bosque Mall at the recommendation of the Baumers. They said that there was a fun toy place there called Mr. Joy. I had never been to this mall, but it is relatively close to our house. There are probably 5 or 6 major malls within a few miles of our house. These people love their malls. And they are not cheap. Totally pricier than anything in the states, usually.

Anyway, we first had lunch and found some wifi so that we could chat with Devin. We talked to him on the phone (What'sApp is amazing) while he was buying up some diapers at Costco. Awesome. He said that he had already gotten the girls to school, gotten Flor a doctor's appointment, gotten her medical release form filled out for her meds at school and dropped it off, and had been grocery shopping. Maybe I should keep him home more often. He took the day off as it was Columbus Day and he can choose  rotating holiday to be paid for. That worked out well.

Anyway, we then made our way to Mr. Joy and the kids had a fantastic time. It was really a very fun place. It was $4.50 for an hour, so not too bad (since I only had two kids with me) and 99 cents for me, unless I wanted to play (no thanks). There were huge slides, ball pits, laser tag, ball blasters, a rock climbing wall, etc. Big time fun for them. We will go again one more time this week because they liked it so much.

Apparently I took a lot of pictures of them in the same spot. Haha. Oh well.

After our play time was up, we went back upstairs for some frozen yogurt. Ecuadorians sure love their ice cream in all forms. It is one of the easiest things to buy here and it is quite tasty, so we eat a fair amount (okay, a lot) of that.
Jace liked his, can you tell?

One of those times when Jace said "mom, take my picture!" Okay.
We decided that since we kind of knew where we were, we would walk  home. We did that, right along side a busy highway that runs right above our house. There is a bridge that crosses over one street away from ours, so it was an easy walk home (and no walking up the hill, per usual! Yay!).
Just a little view of the city from our walk

And we walked past these terraced homes that you can see from pretty much anywhere in this city because they sit on the hill. They are apparently very expensive. We could see that they are in a gated community as we walked by.

When we got home, we found that the internet was back on (yay) and that we had a message from the Baumers inviting us over for dinner. We had a little bit of rest time before heading over there. They live not too far from here, but we took  taxi because we didn't know where we were going. They have a great apartment for their family of 6. It was fun to see them again and enjoy their company for dinner. though Jace was really ornery at that point and was quite embarrassingly rude. We only stayed about an hour because I could see Jace's behavior deteriorating rapidly. Gotta love rude dinner guests.  We are grateful to them for getting us out of the house and providing adult company for me. :)

Whew. All caught up.
