Happy 12th Birthday Mishell!

Man, I need to just play serious catch up and get all caught up. It's a shame that I am just posting about Mishell's birthday MONTHS later.

Not only did we get to celebrate Mishell's birthday on Sept 17, but we also celebrated one year of her being in our family. That was the day that she was able to leave the orphanage and come "home" (Ecuador home) with us. So, there is quite a lot to celebrate about this special day.

Mishell continues to do incredibly well in our home. I am quickly forgetting what life was like before she came. She is a great helper and acts without being asked. She is kind to her siblings, agreeable, easy going, and great at seeing good in others. Mishell is also very talented in cleaning and deep cleans like no one I know. She is doing much better in school this year as we have been able to get her the services she needs. She has a ton of friends and is funny and outgoing with her peers (I am so glad!). She is very loved wherever she goes. Her English has come quite a ways and she is easily conversant in English, though she still does mix up some words and struggles with deeper than every day talk type speech. She has forgotten all of her Spanish, unfortunately. She's a fabulous addition to our family and we are so grateful to know that she is ours forever.

On her birthday, we went to the Hale Center Theater's Beauty and the Beast, which was fabulous. We then had lunch at Cafe Rio per her request. We did cake and ice cream and dinner at home. She had requested an ipod of her birthday, so that was the bulk of her gifts.

Here's a few pictures of her special day:
