Ecuador Day 33

Day 33. Devin doesn't even have a rhyme for me today. Darn.

Thank you Mikey for all the cheese suggestions. We will probably be in cheese heaven shortly around here-- that is if we can find said cheeses. So far, I have only seen cheese in the grocery stores, none out in the markets with flies covering them. Devin did see a man today with a box on the back of his motorcycle that said he sells cheese. Maybe we will have to look into that...

Today was a sad day for us as we said goodbye to our friends the Harlans. Everything is cleared for them to leave tomorrow to return home to Iowa. I can't say I am not jealous, but I am trying hard not to think about it. I am also trying hard not to think about Devin, Hallie, and Jace leaving in a few weeks because it makes me almost unbearably sad. I know Flor and I will survive, but it will be tough. I am so glad that we still have the Schinnerers.

Today we hung out in the apartment all morning again as the weather was not cooperating with doing much else. It rained all day. So fun. We did leave this afternoon to meet up with the two other families to go to the artesian market one more time. I am sure I could spend a lot more time there (and a lot more money) but that was probably our last trip. We'll see. We did find a jersey for Devin and a cute little t-shirt for Jace since most of our last purchases were for the girls.

After the market, we walked in the downpour a few blocks to the Mexican Restaurant that we ate at before, La Casa de Eduardo. It is delicious. Best food we have had here, I'd say. Erin was kind enough to treat us all to dinner as her going away present. We should have been paying for her...but she is kind like that. We stopped at the Schinnerer's apartment on the way home to retrieve our fruits and vegetables from yesterday (we had left them there) and Erin had bags full of things for us that she was leaving. SO NICE. We have new toys for the kids, coloring books, stickers, DVDS, clothes, diapers, lotion, plastic dishes (Don't tell Andres, but we have now broken approximately five dishes in this apartment. Just kidding- we will tell him, don't you worry), and lots of other things. It was like Christmas! Thank you Erin! We are really going to miss the Harlans. Hallie loved having Adri as a friend. Poor thing lost Jenna as a friend and now Adri. She told me today that she wants to go home from Ecuador now. Sad.

Well nothing else to report for today.  I will spare you the approximately 25 pictures Devin took of taxi drivers peeing outside of our window today and share these instead.

Hallie and miss Adriana. Adri is so loving and threw her arms around Hallie for the picture. Hallie would not reciprocate...that stink.
All the little kids. Look how cute Adriana is holding onto Jace and Flor. She is sure a funny girl.

Then we told Pablo to come get into the picture and what does Hallie do? Throw her arm around him of course. Naturally. I think she has a fascination with Pablo. Too bad he is 11 years older than she is.

Me, Erin, and Robin. Erin and Robin look lovely, but I had just come from the outside downpour, so thus the wet rat look. Okay, they came from there too...but they just pull it off better than I do.
What will day 34 bring? Probably rain. We'll keep you posted on that.
