Ecuador Day 23

Today was so boring that I finally decided to take pictures of our apartment to show you. We'll get to those in a second after I bore you with the details of our day. We woke up, ate breakfast, bathed and dressed every member of the family (I know you are relieved that we haven't given up on bathing), skyped with a few people, ate lunch, napped, went to the fruit/veggie market (actually open this time), came home, I cleaned said fruit and veggies while Hallie and Devin walked to the bread store, then Jace and I went to the Mega for more groceries while Devin and the girls went to get pizza for us for dinner (2 for 1 day at Papa John's), had dinner, got kids to bed, and here we are. Phew. So exciting, eh!? We have a forecast of rain for the next 10 days and today it poured. So I have a feeling we will be needing to get really creative in order to stay busy around here.
One really awesome thing about being here is that Quito is the rose capital of the world and each time we go to the market, we come back with beautiful roses. $1.50 for these.

Alright. The tour of our grand apartment starts with this shot from the front door. You are viewing Jace's lovely bedroom. He is currently asleep there in the crib, though you can't tell because we keep him covered so that he will (hopefully)  sleep longer.

This is the front room/family room. We spend a lot of time here. But you can see what I mean about there not being alot of space for the kids to play.

One nice thing about the apartment is that it has two bathrooms. We only have one at home, so going back to just one is going to be an adjustment! This is the hall bathroom, right behind the big couch in the family room.

Kitchen. It is actually pretty good sized. On the left side where you can't see is the fridge and small (and I mean small) washer and dryer. We are constantly doing laundry just to keep up.

A view from the kitchen looking into the family room. The alien picture thing on the wall is the owner's...we have become good friends with her during our time here. Creepy, yes?

The second bedroom. Hallie was sleeping here until Flor came and now it is Flor's room. Yes, I took these pictures while the kids were in bed. Good mom, eh?

The Master Bedroom. There is carpet on the floor, but no padding. It's just a thin carpet right on top of the concrete. So it's no softer than anywhere else in the house. Hallie's bed is on the right side of the bed...a twin air mattress.

The larger bathroom, inside the Master bedroom.

Other view of the bedroom from the opposite end.
I know that was fascinating reading. I ought to be a tour-guide, right? Just kidding! Tomorrow we plan to do more fun things, so long as the weather allows it. More then!

what an incredible apartment. TWO baths too!! jut wondering if you end up taking those quick hot for 5 seconds and then freezing cold showers??? A hot shower was one of the things on our thankful list when we returned home.

If flowers were that cheap here I would buy them once a week too. Love them!

such interesting decor...I think I would have taken down the alien but I guess you are friends now.

So I have a question for you. What are your plans for Flor when you get back to the states? Are you going to put into school right away? Are there adoption things to take care of when you get back?

here is a website with ideas of things to do to keep the kids entertained. There are all sorts of random games and activities to do... http://todayisfun.com

Hi, I am Jen's friend, Rachel. I served my mission in Quito. I just spent my ENTIRE afternoon reading your blog. (I blog stalked from Jen's.) Jen has kept us updated on your adventure in adopting Flor. I am so excited for you. Reading your blog makes me hope that someday it might be possible for me to go to Ecuador and adopt a child. I LOVE the people there so much. Your family is in our prayer that hopefully all will go well with the finalizing of the adoption and that you will get home SOON! Congrats! Enjoy Ecuador for me. I miss it.
