This is a doozy! Just a fair warning. We have been busy. Thanks to my father-in-law for the motivation to get this post up-- as he reminded me that I am way behind on the blogging :) Glad someone is reading it.
July was a busy, busy month as most Julys are. We had a ton of fun and missed a lot of sleep. Here are a few things we were up to:
BEES GAME:
On the spur of the moment, we decided to go to family night at the Bees game one Monday. Last year we went and scored all these coupons for free peanut butter (I'm not kidding, we got like 7 free jars of peanut butter from that game! Wahoo!) Anyway, hoping for more peanut butter and because tickets are only $5 for the game AND a hot dog, we were all over it. Luckily for us, Shawna and Alisa were game too. They are a fun bunch, so we were glad they came.
Gosh, we're an attractive pair, no? Ha! |
Good thing Aunt Alisa is up for a pose with the bee |
We had pretty great seats! No peanut butter this time, but we had a fantastic time nonetheless. |
RELAY FOR LIFE:
We participated in Relay for Life for the 7th year this year! We were much lazier this year when it came to fundraising and none of us did anything until the night of. We also decided that in order to enjoy the rest of our weekend, we would go and just stay until midnight and then pack up. That was a great plan. I am just too old to be staying up all night long these days! Especially with kids because then we can't even sleep much the next day. Anyway, it worked out great. We sold a bunch of desserts and had a fabulous time and turnout. Always one of our favorite events of the year and it is such an honor to remember Chris and all those others who have lost their lives to cancer.

Even though Claire is hidden a bit, I just love her face in this picture! |
The firefighters had the brilliant idea to sell rides in their crane for $5 per person. Mason and Avery really wanted to go, but they had to have a "parent" go with them, so Carlie posed as their parent and took them up. She had to pay her own $5 to chaperone them. Haha. Good thing it's all for charity, right?! |
Wild Hair Florinda, but she's still cute :) |
I think my face says exactly what I was thinking-- all these kids were fighting to run the booth and things got a bit heated at times.... |
I really just adore this lady. |
And this man. |
We also got to meet sweet new baby Paige!! My cousin Cortney's new baby. We are so excited for another brand new baby in the family! Also, my brother and Lara had a baby later in the month, little Luke, but we have not been able to meet him yet. Soon, we hope! |
Nothing quite like a brand new baby |
We were right next to the IF booth, so you know, we had to honor our high school heritage! Go Tigers. Or something like that.
TRAIN RIDE TO TEMPLE SQUARE:
We had a bit of a summer bucket list with the kids and one of the things Jace really, really wanted to do was ride the train to "Square Temple" (Temple Square). So one day, we planned the trip with my bff Camille, who is in town for the summer from CA. We had 5 kids between us and it was a bit of mayhem at times, but we survived! Jace stole a bag of chips at one point and that was the worst of it, so we could possibly say we would do it again. No, really, we had a great time. We walked around Temple Square for a short time and then had lunch at City Creek and let the kids play on the dinosaurs there before catching the train back. Perfect little summer activity. And especially fun to do it with Mille.

Don't ask what Hallie is doing... |
And Hallie took this picture, so yes, excellent photography. |
Baron, Flor, and Hallie. Jace refused to be in the picture and then demanded his own right after. Go figure. That kid... |
Yep, that's a lot of kids!

MUSEUM OF CURIOSITY:
For one of our Thursday Adventure Days, we met up with Kirston and her kids, plus a few extras, at the Museum of Curiosity at Thanksgiving Point. We had never been, but had a fabulous time! The kids played to their hearts content and Kirston and I chatted the day away. It was so great. So great in fact, that I have three pictures total, and only one at the actual museum! After the museum, we went to get ice cream cones at JCWs. I think the people there were thrilled when we left as the kids had all made their own lemonade concoctions with all their lemons and sugar packets. Nice.
HIKING:
Yes, yes, you read that right. Kim Perry hike? I KNOW. And it was even my idea. We got a little pamphlet from our city telling us all the trails in our area, so I figured, why not-- we can do a little hike with the kids! So we did. And it was actually a really fun time. We only walked maybe 2 miles total, but Flor had to be carried for a good portion of it and we also took a few bad paths before finding our way to where we wanted to go. We will definitely go again now that we know where we are going to find a little waterfall that was promised just beyond where we ended up. We live in a beautiful area and it was fun to get out and explore it. Plus, Jace had been begging to go hiking (yeah, he's not my kid).

Sorry for the shadows on all these pictures. We are no photographers. |
Hallie fell right before this, thus the lovely grumpy face. |
And this one... |
BOONDOCKS:
My hospital work hosts an annual party for all employees and this year it was at Boondocks! They had a big bbq meal that was delicious and then had rented the whole place for employees and their families. We had unlimited go karts, bowling, bumper boats, batting cages, jump houses, laser tag, etc. and $5 for the arcades each. We spent a good portion of the night there and had a great time. I didn't take that many pictures, but what else is new? Thanks ORMC- it's a great place to work!
ZOO:
For another one of our Thursday adventure days (that actually happened on Friday I think), we met up with my friend Meghan to go to the zoo with her and her little boy, Tanner. The animals were so active and they were so great to watch! We totally hit it at the right time. The elephants, the gorillas, the giraffes, everything was really fun. We even rode the train. Fun times. Glad we have a zoo pass this year!
The elephants were so fun to watch. They are one of my favorites so we spent a good amount of time there. |
Jace and Tanner hit it off right away, despite their 2+ year age difference. |
RANDOMS:
I really don't know what the purpose of this picture was-- but here's Flor! |
Carlie came and helped me paint my DI find- a file cabinet that I have been needing for a long time! Yay! And now it's painted all cute and in use. Love it. |
Gotta love Hallie and this lovely phase of leaving notes around the house :) Translation: "Mom I just wanted to move your room because I love you and dad. I love you mom. Dad I love you I just wanted to move your room. Dad I love you." |
A little indoor Sunday afternoon golf. (Don't mind Devin's sagging pants. We all know he is too skinny for his own good) |
An evening at Station Park. LOVE that place and that it is so close! |
Hallie doing cartwheels on the turf |
Movie night. Our new couches make it extra comfy! |
And Flor wanted her picture taken too, naturally! |
The kids love playing games. We have convinced them to play Uno more often now, which is great because then mom and dad are happy too :) |
Backyard smore's day! A summer time must! |
