Hallie-isms
Hallie has been on a few themes lately. I am sure you will pick up on them by the following Hallie-isms:
*Hallie is really into pretending and she often assigns us each a "role" in her little kingdom. This is how it went one day: "I am the boss. Jacer is the cuteness. You are the tree and daddy is the boss like me. And Flor...she's in Ecuador."
* We got to see one of my best friends, Camille, for a short little while over Thanksgiving break. We drove her to the airport to catch her flight, so on the way out I was showing Hallie the planes that were coming in and telling her how we would be flying in one like them to go to Ecuador. After listening to my spiel for some time, Hals spoke up from the back seat in her most concerned voice, "But mommy, you won't fit in the plane!" Ouch.
*Another day, while driving, amongst some of her random musings was this one: "Mom, does Jen's car fly?"
*After Devin came home from some Saturday morning basketball, Hallie proclaimed, "Daddy! You look sweatin' cute in those shorts!" Uh...? Alarming. Definitely.
*She told me one day, "When I get older, I am going to play basketball and knock over all of the guys, like this" (she then proceeded to bend over. Interesting approach...surely she'll scare "the guys.")
*I was in the bathroom getting ready one day when Hallie marched over and announced, "We'll have to go another way. Center street is closed." What the heck? We weren't going anywhere, but she obviously paid attention to some conversation at some point, because Center Street was indeed closed.
*When she doesn't know the answer to some question I ask her, she says, "I don't know. You talk about it." For example, today she was talking about her friends in Nursery, so I asked her who her teacher is. She said, "I can't remember. You talk about it."Apparently she needs some large discourse on the subject instead of just an answer.
*We have a wedding theme going on, most definitely. She talks about her wedding constantly and how she will get married in the Temple, like me and daddy. One of her Nursery leaders on Sunday even stopped me in the hall and told me that the first thing Hallie said when she got to Nursery that day is that she was going to get married in the Temple. I think we should definitely be alarmed that our three year old is already planning her wedding. It will only get worse from here, I am sure! Here are a few of her favorite wedding related thoughts:
*After talking about her wedding repeatedly one day, I asked, "Well who are you going to marry?" She replied, "No. Who is going to marry ME?" So to humor her, I asked, "Okay, who is going to marry you?" She replied, "Joseph. Now ask me who I am going to marry." So I asked who she is going to marry and she replied, "Parker!" (both little boys in her church class.) Huh. Apparently I have been missing the mark this whole time. My idea of marriage is apparently not accurate. Really someone marries us and we marry someone else. Interesting.
* "Mom, I want my wedding dress to be long on the ground!"
* Another day, Devin and I overheard her talking to herself. Her commentary? "I'll marry Cardston (who happens to be Parker's brother...) He'll be strong enough." Do I even want to know what he will be strong enough for? Oh dear.
Good luck to the future husband of Hallie! Hopefully some of her ideas at least straighten out in the next 20 (or 30, or 40...) years!
