Baby Bash

My former co-workers from LA Weightloss and I had a "get-together" (otherwise known as a baby shower) on Tuesday. Ashley, who threw it, told me it would just be a "little thing". Yeah, does it not look like she went ALL out?! Man...everything was SO cute and the food, I don't even know where to start. It was DELICIOUS. I posted the recipe for the chicken Ash made on the Sweat Peas Recipe Blog, in case some of you don't look at it, GO LOOK AT IT. It's amazing.

I literally thought the cupcakes were fake, they were so pretty.
The whole crew: Ashley, Meg, me, Ashlei, Hannah, Holly, Jenn, and Lisa. I miss these ladies SO much. It was so good to be around them and to just laugh and enjoy ourselves. I appreciate each of them individually for the things they have done for me and for the influences they have been in my life. We have mostly all dispersed now from LA, but I truly believe these are people I will be friends with for life.

Meg and I always did like making weird faces.

Ash and Me. She is so awesome to me. I can't even describe.

Ashlei and I. This Ash and I went to high school together, but we were just more aquaintances then. We became pretty good friends when she moved to Provo and lo and behold, started working at LA Weightloss!!
Part of the loot. Again, let me just say, let's hope its a girl! Especially since Ashley gave Hallie a baby tutu! Haha, I can't imagine putting a boy in that...
As for the update, I went to the doctor today and my blood pressure was higher than normal. (higher than normal for me...mine is usually REALLY low). He asked me how many hours per week I am working. I tried to avoid the question, but he looked at me very sternly and so I told him (I will not tell you, though, for I am kind of ashamed, except I am not, because I like working). Anyway, he then told me I need to cut back so I can stay off my feet more. So, we will see how that goes. If anyone has any great ideas of things to keep me occupied in my soon to be found free time, PLEASE enlighten me. The time I am home already is horrible torture for me, usually. I don't have any projects I am working on, except sticking my pictures from the past four years into photo albums, and I am pretty much done with that. I have taken up baking and cooking more lately, but I can't just do that all day, it will cost too much and I will gain far more weight than necessary. So...I am stuck. I also find myself wanting to go shopping (I know, shopping, me?) when I have spare time, and that is never good. So...what to do?!
PS. Thanks for participating in the poll...it looks like Brynn wins in a landslide! (that is kind of what I was leaning towards, but I didn't tell Devin that!)

The End of an Era

After four years, I am officially done at LA Weightloss. I can't say I am that sad, but the one thing I will REALLY miss is my co-workers. These people have become some of the greatest friends and influences in my life. We got together last Tuesday to go to dinner with whoever could come. Over the years, I have obviously worked with a lot more people than this, but here are some of my favorites! Ashley, Kim, Michelle, me, Meghan, and Ashlei. Here's to hoping that in the future I can have co-workers who are just as awesome as these guys are!

Rascal Flatts!

This past Friday night, I went to the Rascal Flatts concert with my co-workers and friends, Meghan and Ashley. It was a celebration for Ashley's birthday, which was the next day. We first went to the Cheesecake Factory to eat, which is new in Utah and has been a HUGE thing. We went at 4 and luckily got in at 4:30. The food was so good and we had a good time there.

Since it was Ash's birthday, we of course let the people know and they came and sang to her and brought her a microscopic ice cream sundae with a HUGE pile of whip cream! Meghan helped her eat it and I ate the whip cream. haha. Then we headed to Energy Solutions Arena (formerly the Delta Center, which I still call it...) for the concert! We got lucky and got free parking and made our way down to the arena. By this time, we were all feeling extremely hyper, as demonstrated by this picture of Meg acting like a cowboy. She even walked the whole way to the place like that. Okay, maybe not the whole way, but a good portion of the way. :)

The opening act was Kelli Pickler, who was an American Idol winner. She was actually realllly good! Her voice is amazing and Meghan and I agreed that she is the best opening act we have ever seen. Then came the big show! I am a big fan of Rascal but I have never before seen them in concert. We had a great time and were well entertained. We left with hoarse voices and even more hyped up than when we came. Good thing because I had to drive home still...but I was wide awake. I felt it the next morning though when I had to be at work at 8 am. I am nice and didn't schedule Meg or Ashley, but of course I scheduled myself. Oh well. I only wish I would have been able to get better pictures of the band, but I didn't because we were up a ways and my camera is just not that good.

Neglecting the Blog....

I have not blogged in forever, mostly due to the fact that our lives are really not that exciting and there isn't much to write about. I have also been really busy lately....and I have taken on a new project: figuring out my life. Yep, it's a big project.

I have been just cruising along this semester like always when the thought suddenly occurred to me that I don't really know how to be graduated. I have been in school for so long that I am a pro at going to school and being in student-mode. However, when I graduate, what do I really want to do with myself? I hadn't really considered it.

So many things are changing, yet so many things are staying the same. Devin will still be in school, so we will be here for a while more, that is unless we decide to transfer schools and move (which is a possibility). Don't get me wrong, I have loved my time in Provo, but I feel like I have done my time here and I am ready for a change. But, if we end up staying here for another few years as Devin finishes up his education, I will be okay with that too. We are currently in the process of finding a new apartment. We looked at one place that I thought I was really going to love, but I didn't. I also just keep feeling like we need to stay in our ward. I don't know why...so now we are focusing our search to places within the ward. We just need something a little bit bigger. Our apartment now is great and has a lot of perks, but it just has NO storage space and we can't keep piling our junk in random places. You have already seen the picture of our food storage in our bedroom. It's just not attractive.

The other thing is that I need to start looking for a new job. I have worked where I do for FOUR years and that has been great as it has gotten me through school, but I feel that it is time to move on. The very thought just scares me. I know how to do what I doing and I am comfortable there and the bottom line is that I just don't like change. I don't even know where to start looking for a new job to be honest. It is a scary thought. I wish my internship would just hire me, but they unfortunately don't have any positions. Ah.....I also have debated on and off about grad school. I was in class the other night and my professor congratulated those who made it into grad school (the Social Work program at BYU just announced its grad school admissions) and I was totally jealous. I didn't even apply, but I still felt a twinge of jealousy about those who would be going on. I didn't apply because I feel so burnt out that I didn't think I could do it. But who knows, after a summer break, I might have been more than ready to go.

Well those are just some of the ramblings of my life right now. I am sorry this is a boring post and pictureless, but hey...it's my blog and I will do with it what I want! :)

Good Ol' Times at LA

Me, Ashley, Lisa, and Megster

There have been many ups and downs of my job, as with most jobs, but overall I can say that it has been a real blessing in my life as I have been able to provide for myself and pay my way through school. Besides that, I have made some of the best friends that I have while working at good old LA Weightloss. Since I have been there for 4 years, there have been quite a few people that I have worked with, but I count most of them as really good friends.

About twice a year we have a big event that we like to call "Open house" where we plan and prepare for weeks and weeks for a one day huge celebration and sale. I always enjoy Open House days because it takes a lot of preparation and we definitely see the fruits of our hard labor. I also like the adrenaline rush on the day of of getting ready and being just so busy all day long that I never have time to even sit down and barely have time to eat and drink. We have had some pretty fun open houses over the years. Well, this past Friday was another big open house day. I have been the "Assistant Manager" at LA for about 10 months now but we have no manager. Another girl, Meghan, and I are co-assistant managers since neither of us can work the hours to be a manager, nor would we want to. So this Open House was the first time that we together had the chance to prove ourselves. People sometimes under-estimate us I think since we are both young. But we had a great day and proved everybody wrong! Here are some pictures of us, of course at the end of the day, so two of the other girls had already left. But oh how I love those co-workers of mine!

Meg will probably kill me for putting this picture on my blog, but seriously this is what we look like after 11 straight hours of working so hard !

Again, Ash might not like this picture so much, but hey, she let me take it so its fair game! I am not really quite sure what to say about this other than it is her celebratory pose that we made it through the day. Haha!

Our cute decorations, it was cuter earlier in the day, but you get the idea!

Ghost of Halloween Past

Happy Halloween everyone! I had to dress up for work....so my co-worker Meghan and I decided to be "Dead People". Little did I know, we would turn out like this:

Our other co-worker, Ashley, was a pirate, so we started telling people that we had crossed her the wrong way.

Don't ask me why our heads are abnormally huge compared to Ashley's. Hmmm. Well not only did I go throughout the whole day like that, but I also went to my internship for four hours. I almost went the whole time without having to check any kids in, but then in the last 15 minutes, a police officer brought one in. So I had to check her in like that. Sheesh. Embarrassing.

Ironic...

So I have worked for the same company for 18 months and I just got my first raise today. I find this to be frustratingly ironic since I will only be working there for 6 more weeks. Oh well, I guess I should take whatever I can get, huh?
