Bear Lake in the Winter!

We had this fun idea to do something the week in bewteen Christmas and New Years since Devin had the whole week off work and I only worked one day. We decided to rent a cabin at Bear Lake and Mikey and Lara and Jen and Steve came with us. We went a Tuesday night through Thursday and had a blast doing just about nothing. The only time we left the cabin was to go sledding (which was awesome and really fun on this huge hill--except for the walking back up part). We played games all day and night and ate to our heart's content. Mikey kept us supplied on all these games as you know he is a big gamer. It was fun, fun, and maybe we can make it a tradition! Oh, and PS...cabins were really cheap at that time of year!

Here's some sledding pictures- since that's all I have!

This one deserves its own post

Just because Jace is a sweetheart.

Perry Family Party

On the 26th, we had a family party with the Perrys. Jana and Shawna were both in town, which was a really special treat. We had dinner together at Travis M's work place. He is awesome to let us use it. It was fun to chat with everyone for a bit, but we didn't stay too long. Everyone seemed to be tired and have places to be. The sad thing is that I have only one picture of the entire evening; this one of Alisa and the babies. I also have two videos of the kids playing around, so there's that?

We really do wish that we got to see more of the Perry side of the family. I know the 1.5 of you that are still reading my blog wonder why I post so much about my family and not about Devin's family. We do love them, just to be clear. We just don't see them as much.

Since this post lacks pictures and excitement, I will add pictures of New Years Eve as well. We have often in the past spent this holiday with Shawna and Slava, but they had to return home before New Years this year. Since Jana was still in town and we had hardly seen her, we thought it would be fun to spend it with her and Alisa. We had such a good time chatting that we didn't even play any of the games we brought. I learned quite a lot about Devin as a child and youth and I also learned that my sisters in law hated me when we first started dating. Fun stuff.  I think they like me alright now, so that's what counts. It was fun to catch up with Jana... we stayed up way too late talking. We spent the night there at Alisa's house that night and then went to a baby blessing the next day for little Sunnie.

It was a fantastic way to ring in the New Year! Happy 2017

Chrstmas Afternoon

Christmas afternoon was spent at my Grandma Clark's house. We had our soup bar for dinner and then got right down to the best business- opening presents. We did a white elephant only present exchange this year for the adults. The anticipation built for months and months and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. It really is interesting to try to explain the dynamic in my family to people, because they just don't understand how we really are close with my entire extended family. Aunts, uncles, cousins...we are all close. When you know each other so well, it's really hilarious to see what people came up with for white elephants. We let the kids open their presents and then sent them on their way to play for the business of the adult present exchange.

Okay, so here are a few of the presents in pictures and otherwise. Devin had my Grandpa Doyle and we got him some sweet light up velcro shoes for the elderly. I hope he is wearing them and they are assisting in him not getting lost out there :) I had my cousin Houston's wife Baily. We got her a bunch of random things and wrapped them in an entire roll of Coscto saran wrap, so she had to unwrap it all to get her treasures bit by bit.

Carlie had Devin and he got a toilet golf game, a toilet night light to help aim at night, a kitty carrying shirt (see picture) and a Utes shirt, which he promptly threw in the garbage. :) Sue retrieved it and claimed it as her own. My Uncle Lynn had me. He got me a homemade first aid kit, that as I dug through and pulled out each item, I realized was a homemade vasectomy kit. Everyone was dying. I have been joking about getting Devin a vasectomy recently (TMI) and now we have all we need to just get 'er done!! Haha, it was so hilarious.

Jennifer had Brad and got him this shirt that says "Farmer- Someone out standing in his field". He loves his sheep so it was a perfect gift for him

Devin and the toilet night light

This was from either Houston or Baily-- I can't remember which one had my mom. Since she is a dental hygienist it says "I floss cracks". HAHAHA!

Lara once upon a time lit a pair of leggings on fire trying to warm them up in the microwave (a classic story that we just laugh and laugh about), so Che got her a new pair of leggings inside a microwave)

Devin and his cat shirt. He loves it.

There were a number of awesome t-shirts given, so here is the whoe line up.

Of course there were diet coke gifts, Christmas Vacation gifts, and Harry Potter gifts. There were, surprisingly, no Neil Diamond gifts. Other funny ones were a homemade calendar of "Luscious Lisa" for Dave with my mom's face printed on a whole bunch of hilarious bodies. Sue got my Grandma two Marilyn Monroe wigs, because she has worn a wig for a million years and desperately needs new ones...but she'd never go out in those, though she did put them on for us for kicks and giggles.

I haven't laughed that hard in ages...it was truly a classic gift exchange and I hope we keep the tradition going for years to come!

Cute girls together

Doyle and his shoes

My favorite girls. I'm especially lucky that I get to call them family too.
That wraps up Christmas! Hallelujah!!

Christmas Morning!

Christmas to me is just packing the day full of family, presents, more family, good food, and of course remember the Savior. We woke up early at my mom's and let the kids go see their Santa presents before getting ready and going to church. After we got back, we opened the rest of our presents and then had brunch with my mom, Dave, and siblings. We also opened presents from Grandma and Poppe-E (of which I have zero pictures...shoot). (nevermind, just stole some from my sister's blog. Thanks Jen!)

My mom and Dave gave each family a kayak! We are super excited to use it this summer.

A few Lizzie videos (December)

Christmas Eve

After spending Christmas Eve at my dad's, we went to get the kids ready for bed at my mom's. We had the traditional nativity and set out cookies and milk for Santa. The kids also opened their Christmas Eve jammies.

Even the adults participated in the Nativity so that we had enough players. I had to play the piano and I will let you guess how that went....Lara, Luke, and Flor as wisemen

Jace, Claire, and Lizzie as Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus

Mikey and Devin as Shepherds

Mishell was the angel and Hallie was the innkeeper.

Cookies and pictures for Santa

Christmas is so magical with children!! Just looking at these pictures is making me relive it and remember how special it was.
